Bahooka | Rosemead

Bahooka was a tiki bar in Rosemead that operated for over forty years and was, by any reasonable measure, one of the great American themed bars — not themed in the corporate, focus-grouped sense, but in the sense of a place where someone had a vision and committed to it completely. Fish tanks everywhere, including a 300-gallon tank with a fish named Rufus who outlasted most of the regulars. Rum drinks served in ceramic skulls. A dining room that felt like the inside of a shipwreck. It closed in 2013 and the world became slightly less interesting. Rufus was rehomed.
