The Royal Palm Tavern was the kind of Ithaca bar that felt like it had always been there and always would be. A working-class anchor in a college town that sometimes forgot it had working-class people in it — the Royal Palm didn't forget. It served the people who stayed after graduation, the people who never left, and the students who were smart enough to find it. Ithaca has a lot of bars. It doesn't have this one anymore.
