Sunlite Pool at Coney Island in Cincinnati was the largest recirculating swimming pool in the world — a 200-foot by 401-foot expanse of water that three generations of Cincinnati families spent their summers in. It opened in 1925 and operated for decades as the kind of place that becomes part of a city's collective memory without anyone deciding that's what it's doing. You went as a kid with your parents. You went as a teenager. You brought your own kids. Then Coney Island closed and the pool closed with it and suddenly there was a whole chapter of Cincinnati summers that existed only in people's heads.
